| Dang! Xanga looks way different!!! Crazy...
Updates: I'm getting married in a month! It will be an exciting time methinks. But right now, I've got some advising to do and what not. I work at LSU now and actually teach people... crazy eh?
Anyway, I'm assuming no one reads this and the post is really so that they won't delete my account. At any rate, it's good to be around.

| I could say the thing that people say whenever they haven't written in a while...
but I won't.
Just some updates I guess.
I was thinking about Freshman retreat and why I feel so good about it. Something about Renewal, Refreshment, Starting over... all those things. There's all new people, all there to fit in but don't necessarily know how, and I'm not just talking about the Freshmen. It's everyone. Everyone's looking for a new lease to forget what happened last year and start off great. There's so much energy: nervous energy, excitement... it's incredible. I never fail to lose my voice. It's always gone by the end. It's ok. A sacrifice I make, I guess. But dang, it hurts, especially when I get sick afterwards.
My girlfriend and I just hit 9 months... no, not that one. We've been together from January 2 and it's been a great ride. I only look forward to what will happen in this relationship. If you don't know Marni, she's amazing. She's so caring, even to the point that it actually hurts her when she's hurt someone else. She's the sweetest, most caring person I know. Her heart goes out so many times that it seems like she wants to take care of the entire world, which she often does if the world comes over to her house. Besdies all that, she's absolutely beautiful. Her wavy brown and red hair highlight her amazing brown eyes and olive skin. I'm glad she's with me. Thank you baby.
Now for something completely different...
With Praise has taken a break. I think we are all discovering our lives and the fact that they're taking us away from where we were in college. It was easy then, but somehow things have gotten more complicated. I don't have all the answers as to "why" or "how" but I do know that it's been great and that I'm glad I was involved because I learned a hell of a lot... a little music business, a little theory, and experiences that nothing can match. I've been all over the world and seen a lot of things. I've performed for stadiums and large auditoriums and audiences as small as ten people. And I've done it all for relatively less money than you might think. I've been on numerous albums that I helped create... and all of this before I hit 24. Not a majority of people can say that. I feel honored and blessed to be a part of this for so many years.
So what does God have in store for me next? Well, I'm a working stiff now. I like that term "working stiff." I never much liked the fact that I have become a company man, but hey, the work experience is invaluable, and the money is... money. Everyone needs that. As far as my creative outlet, I don't know what is to happen. I guess now I'll have more time to work on my own music. Who knows where that will take me? I've been involved with Dwell recently. They let me play bass with them and that is just fine by me. I've been learning this bass thing and I think I can pass for a bass player now... at least I've fooled them. They're a great bunch of people to hang out with. I recently traveled to Denver with them and that's going to be another post down the line. But I'm sure God has it figured out where He or She would like me to go. The only thing left is guiding me to it. Oh God, I hope music is what you have in store for me. It is the desire of my heart.
So
another chapter begins...
| So yeah...
I find myself in Carmel California. If you don't know where that is... google it. It's amazing. When we came into town, the fog came in off of the sea and painted all of these houses in such a romantic and magical atmosphere. Driving around with the windows down and taking in the evening air with sprays of salt water was so amazing to me.
And then today we went sailing. It was such a beautiful day! Dad kind of knew how to sail so we didn't need a whole lot of help from Bruce, the Harbor Master, but it was good that he was there. He's a good man. We were at the Pebble Beach Beach and Tennis club overlooking the bay with the Senior PGA Tour going on behind us.
Today was a good day... | | |
| Wow...
What a day. Someone saved my life today. That special person is Marni McClain. Without her driving skill, she and I would both be in a lot of trouble. On top of that, thanks to our Creator who saw fit to save us from this horrible situation. The story goes like this:
Driving down La Sierra Avenue in Marni's purple Pontiac, we notice that Jack in the Box has a mailbox out on the street (that's still very strange). Marni, the driver, also notices that a Taurus-looking POS is coming at us from the left while we are cruising at 40mph. Now, we have the right of way, so what it this car doing? That question flashes through my mind as we are heading towards an almost-certain collision. On top of that, a red car (I think a newer '00-ish Dodge) pulls out of the driveway to the parking lot on our right. Marni pumps the breaks and yanks the steering wheel right. In this brief second and a half, we have avoided certain collision with the four-door POS and are heading towards the red Dodge. With about an inch to spare, we swing by the Dodge and all the way into the Jack in the Box parking lot to our right. The POS gets out of there (smart decision) without anyone noticing where it went, the lady in the Dodge checks her car, gives us the okay sign, and leaves. So with everyone watching, I announce, "Ladies and gentlemen, the best driver I know: Marni McClain." ...or something like that. Meanwhile, Marni is a little shaken up so I drive the length of the parking lot, heading towards Say What?! Coffeehouse and looking to see if that POS has stuck around. It hasn't, so we go in, order our vegetarian sandwiches and drinks, and sit down to take it all in.
Needless to say, it was an intense four seconds. Then why say it? Because it's my blog... that's why.
Thank you to my amazing girlfriend Marni McClain and her on-point driving abilities for saving us both, and the people in the other two cars, from all the trouble a car accident can cause.
Without a scratch people!!! She deserves so much more than my thanks and admiration.
I love you baby. | | |
| So...
after graduation...
I don't have a job, my savings dwindling, and I'm living at home where they don't turn up the aircon much more than 78.
What's next?
Anyone got job ideas... or more importantly, a job they want to give me? That'd be great.
Y'all have a good summer.
